Caribbean Lottery Information
The world’s largest lottery operator GTech Holdings Corp, www.gtech.com, has now become the largest lottery operator in the Caribbean after it’s recent purchase of the Leeward Islands Lottery. GTECH will now operate lotteries in the following countries; Antigua/Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Maarten/Saba/St. Eustatius, and Turks & Caicos, and is the operator for lotteries in Barbados, Bermuda, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
There are also many virtual lotteries in the Caribbean, many such as the one operated by Atlantic West Gaming Entertainment, Ltd are based in Antigua.
In June 2007 the Caribbean Lottery was launched. The lottery will be based in Antigua and has unified lotteries from the countries of Anguilla, Antigua, St.Kitts/Nevis, Turks & Caicos and St.Maarten. Although in Puerto Rico many people play USA lotteries the islanders play and are also very proud of the fact that the Puerto Rico lottery was founded in 1813.
Many of the Countries of the Caribbean such as Jamaica have huge lotteries and it was recently announced by BGLC that Jamaica will soon see more “Mega Gaming Lounges”. One example of the new gaming lounges will be the one containing 1000 VLT’s at Harmony Cove.
The Netherlands Antilles which covers 5 countries has quite a few lotteries and many online lotteries are based in Curacao. Due to religious opposition Cayman Islands and Bahamas do not have national lotteries. Even the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti, has a lottery.
Barbados has an active lottery system with the following lottery games available: Pick 3, Pick 4, Hot 5, Caribbean Keno, Caribbean Lotto, Mega 6 and Double Draw.
Aruba has a unique lottery system with the folloing lottery games: Lotto Pa Deporte, Catochi Pro Deporte, Big 4 5000, Lotto di dia, and Zodiacs. Although the World Lottery Association (WLA) has many members around the world, Aruba is one of the few, if not only, member of this organization.
