Have traveled to NYC for 20 years, and this is the first time I thought I would try Murray Hill. It was a delightful change of pace. The pros: very quiet at night, not a lot of street noise. Cons: cabs can be hard to come by, especially when trying to get to the theater from the hotel.. You are better off walking unless the weather is horrible.Rooms are semi-spacious (for NYC) and are clean and stylish. If you are a Kimpton frequent guest, you can raid the mini-bar (within reason) and there is always a nice wine and cheese reception each afternoon in the lobby. Hotel desk staffers were pleasant during my 3-night stay. There's a laptop in lobby you can rent if you need to check e-mail. Would definitely stay here again, especially if I didn't have to catch a play at a certain time. The lobby is fairly large, so you can sit off to the side and avoid the constant hustle and bustle.

Only a few blocks below Grand Centrsl but milesawsy in attitude and service . The staff care helpful, pleasant and try hard to make your stay special. The rooms are of good size with all the amenities and housekeeping does a great job. Breakfast is a truly enjoyable experience and cost is reasonable by NYC standards. Free wine in the evening is a nice touch. As someone who grew up in NYC and returns every 3 months, I would rate this one of the best values in the city; not cheap but good vaue for the money. A special note of thanks to their great concierge, ABC.

A Great Weekend In NY

My plans for the trip to NY were somewhat last minute so I was not sure if I would find a hotel to accommodate my husband and I within the price range we were looking for. I spent hours on the internet going back & forth looking at hotels in Brooklyn & Manhattan, then I found the Kimpton Hotel, I worried about the parking in Manhattan but I wa plesantly surprised there was parking on the street 2 blks down and on Monday morning we got an early bird special parking fee in a parking lot on the same street for $*. The staff at the hotel was wonderrful even though our toliet was not in working order they fixed it right away and gave us a free movie that night. Location, location, the hotel is on the same blk. as Grand Central Station Park Ave side just a few steps (blks) away. You can walk to the Library, Bryant Park and subway systems. As a past NY resident I felt as though I was truly back home and I was able to get around the city with no problems. What is so funny about this trip is that although I lived in NY for 19 years I never really visited the East side of town that much, so choosing the Kimpton was a treat. I will definitely stay at the Kimpton my next visit and will refer others as well. By the way, the rooms are very chic. Do not just take my word, book this hotel, I stayed in the King Deluxe Room (that was a free upgrade). What more can I say once again the front desk staff was GREAT!!!!!!!!! I LOVE NY.

I had been searching for a good deal for a post 4th of July couple of days in New York! I was pleased to find a great deal on the Kimpton and it is a very centralized location. Check in and staff were quick and even had engineering come up to check out a surround sound problem on the TV (the levels on the TV were set low but they were up to the room within 5 minutes!). Room was spacious, cool (there during the heat wave) and I would definitely recommend the Kimpton (when you look for it - the main sign is 70 Park Ave Hotel (don't look for the Kimpton hotel sign)! Just wish I had had more time to enjoy the wine reception and other amenities!
