This hotel was absolutely awful. To get to it from the train station, you have to walk through crowds and up and down many sets of steps. While the staff was friendly, the rooms were extremely small. There was no room to take a shower. The air conditioning did not work and that is not acceptable in August with the extreme heat. We asked the hotel to fix the air conditioning and the employees didn't even know which direction on the dial was hot and cold. One employee said turn to the "+", the other said the "-". We were waking up in the middle of the night wringing out the sweat on our pillows and taking cold showers just to survive. Awful, awful, awful......

My daughter and I visited Venice for 2 days in September, 2008 and feel that our overall experience was definitely enhanced by our stay at the Alla Corte Rossa. It was convenient to everything and yet off the beaten path enough to avoid the crowds and noise. The hotel was quaint and very clean. Our room was very nice and overlooked the Rio Briati Canal. Breakfast, served in our room, was delicious (the hot chocolate was especially creamy and delicious). The staff was very friendly and helped by recommending places we should see and also showing us on our map how to find those places. I would definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel for other travelers in Venice.
