Umm... excuse me where do you check in? That was my 1st question. I entered the hotel, and the lobby looked more like a residential lobby in a private residence than a typical hotel lobby. The staff was dressed down I could not identify the people that worked there from the people that were staying there as guests. Even from the outside it does not look like a hotel, no sign that says it in the front (missed it the 1st time driving there). Maybe that is the LA concept of modern hotels, but being a world traveler and being from NYC I'm used to a certian standard of class. The rooms were not that big and did not match with the rate they were charging, and they charge $*/day for valet parking. Are you serious? On top of that I had a side panel from the sink in the bathroom fall and almost crush my toe, (solid marble piece) that was held up by some tape and 1 screw with a cracked brackett. The view of LA from the room was the best part of my stay, but I would definately not stay or even recommend anyone to stay at that hotel. It seems it was built for incognito stays for the socialites that live in LA for discreet meetings.

I can think of little bad to say about this hotel. From the fine appointments to the solicitous staff, it's top notch. The room we stayed in could have used a little more closet space, but beyond this, it was a perfect stay. The penthouse is extraordinary.

Obviously an old hotel that has been nicely refurbished. Rooms are spacious, lobby is trendy. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, computers available for guest use, coffee and sweet rolls in the morning, fruit all day, and wine in the evening. Exceptional front office crew, especially Dean. All in all, and nice place to stay. Within walking distance to fine eating, clubs, and entertainment. Wonderful view from the roof top, pool, bar area. Drawbacks, back rooms have no sun room (shown in their pictures), can get noisy at night when the clubs are letting out, and what really turned me off... no top sheet on the beds!! Yuk!

What a fantastic hotel! Years ago I had stayed a few times at the previous hotel here - the Hyatt West Hollywood or Riot House, which had its own charm and history. The new hotel and Andaz brand is a major improvement: contemporary upscale, but warm, extremely friendly, helpful, and relaxed. You haven't lived until you've dined in their signature restaurant (RH). My wife and 3 year old daughter also loved the stay, and we will certainly be returning this year as well as future years.
