I've stayed at this Condo resort so many times now, alone and with family, that I've lost count. There are several reasons: the views are fantastic from every ocean view and ocean front unit. It is right on the ocean; convenient to shopping and marketing; kitchen in unit makes vacation more affordable, management responds immediately to my requests; and maintenance of units (pest spraying) and of the gardens and yards is first class. I will always return to the Papakea when I visit Maui and I hope it never changes.

My family has stayed at the Papakea twice now. Note it is individually owned units so not all units are the same. We were lucky both times because the units we had were nice and comfortable. The second time my friend well and she had a great remodeled unit. Parking is free which was great! There is maid service. Having a full kitchen was very convenient! Having two pools were great for the kids and being in walking distance to the beaches were convenient. I would return to the Papakea again!!!

Not at all what we expected. Ocean view was only if you stood on the balcony and looked 90 degrees to the left...what a joke. We got a great rate, but not so great when we saw how run down our condo was. Took us an hour to check in as they couldn't find our reservation, and argued that I even had one. Had to forward my travel email confirmation to their manager to prove we had booked and paid for a reservation. Extremely dated, run down, old furniture. You couldn't even sit on the couch was so worn out. Window unit air conditioning was extremely loud, and far away from the bedroom, making sleeping at night quite warm. Carpet was so bad I had to wear shoes inside. Terrible furnishings, sheets, etc. I did see the unit next door, and it appeared to be remodeled. Not sure if we got a old unit due to bargain rate, and the good ones were saved for timeshare holders, but I would not come back here. There is no beach. The waves break right up against a retaining wall, so do not expect to go swimming in the ocean or lay at the beach at this facility. Grounds were well kept, parking was convenient, and of course Maui is wonderful. We had a wonderful time in Maui, but wouldn't trust travel website ratings.

Try someplace else. You wont like the service.

Aston at Papakea doesn't really care about how you feel about the conditions of their ""resort"" or how you are treated while you are there. I was originally given a very nice room, but not the room that I paid for. I paid for beach front. Not a break your neck view of the ocean from hanging out of the balcony. I called and was sent to a voicemail of the registration desk and waited for over an hour and a half and got no reply. I went back into the front desk and was told that was the the way it was and I started complaining in front of others that were checking in. They finally switched the room to the one that I originally booked only to get a great view with a totally torn down room. I took pictures of the room #A104 and they can be seen at This room is a crack house and a disgusting mess. We can start with peeling paint and towel racks falling off the walls. Roaches outside around the lanai, noisy maintainance workers at 7 am. They just dont care about your stay. Only how to get your money. Its sad too. That could be a nice place. I will go to another resort in the future.
