This place reminds me of Marriot Courtyard- the suites. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the place looks new... and best of all, we can leave our car in the parking lot and walk right across the street to the beach. The service was fine, We didnt need anything, however they did bring us extra towels and an extra pillow when we asked. This is the place to go if you arent high-maintenance, or need to call for one thing or another. Staffing is minimal but adequate. This is a no- frills place to stay that is nice, clean, new and very close to the water. We never had to take our car onto the sand. Everything we needed was there. They don't have a pool on-site, but they share a lovely pool with the apartments next to them. For a quick weekend getaway, this is the perfect place. Note: We didnt cook, but there is a stove, microwave and full size fridge. We brought cold foods to make sandwiches and salads, macaroni and cheese in the microwave and lots of drinks. There is no venthood, but I cant imagine coming to padre island and spending time cooking. There is a convenience store with gas around the corner and before you get to Bahia Mar, you have several large grocery stores where you can stop first and buy your stuff like muffins, cereal, milk and beer! Btw. Manager: Thanks for loaning us the sand toys for our kids. THAT was a nice thing to do!

Bahia Mar Suites is a wonderfully 3 star hotel. It is brand new and very clean. The rooms have a full kitchen with brand new appliances and tile floors (carpet in the bedroom.) The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathroom shower is huge. The marble counter tops look great in the kitchen and bathroom. The rooms also come with a nice size TV with a DVD player (handy for the little ones.) The hotel is locally owned and operated with a kind and courteous staff. This was a perfect hotel for my family with two small children (2 and 5.) We didn't need a cot or crib. The hotel is priced right. Honestly it is a wonderful value for being across the street from the beach. The area is also wonderful. There is no through traffic. The only folks on the beach are staying at the hotels or condos in the area. Not only have I recommended Bahia Mar to others, we will be there again this weekend. My neighbors have stayed there and will stay there again.
I do not understand the comments from the previous post. It looks like they were expecting a 5 star hotel for a 3 star price. -

Less than a year old, the hotel was vary clean, but service could have been better. One of two shower doors needed fixing when we arrived, indicating that Housekeeping people don't check for problems. There were two dirty dishes in the dishwasher, another Housekeeping problem. While we were there a bunch of teens arrived at three in the morning; made noise, slammed doors. Except for that disturbance I would have given Bahia Mar another smiley.

I would not reccomend this hotel if you have a child under 5. I reqested a crib or cot and they did not have one and was going to charge me for a rollaway. Not happy with the customer service.We also used the oven to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast and the smoke alarm went off just when we opened the oven door the first time. I do not think it had ever been used. Or checked for that effect.
