We staid for 8 days in january. It was our anniversary. We said that at the front desk. The room they gave us was smelly and had very old TV. We asked them to change it. They did it only next day. The room was not much better. just had a flat screen TV. We wanted to reserve a restaurant. but at 8.30 in the morning every restaurant was already reserved . So we celebrated our anniversary at the buffet. Next morning i came to reserve restaurant again. At 7.40 i was #48 in the line! You can reserve restaurant only for the same day you can cot reserve it for tomorrow. We got it and it was bad. I complain to hotel manager and they sent us a bottle of champagne and invitation for a Cristal restaurant. It was bad too. Staff does not speak english. We order drink #40martini#41 5 times and never got what we order. 5 times they brought us something else but not martini. casino and night club are at another property. So you will have a long walk. The only thing was ok is buffet no complains. It was the worst vacation we have ever had and believe us we travel a lot

The service was excellent, the staff was so friendly, the property was beautiful. The pool was great, the swim up bar is fun, the activities were entertaining! But, the food was terrible! Every restaurant and even the buffet were awful. I ended up getting sick on day 2 and couldn't even eat for the rest of the trip. Also, the room smelled moldy. It looked clean and we had fresh towels every day etc. but everything smelled. We had to wash everything when we got home (even our coats and sneakers!) When I got home I realized my sandals were missing. The Front Desk employees told us to lock everything up (lap top wouldn't fit in the safe) but I didn't think I had to lock up my footwear!

my boyfriend and I stayed for 4 days to getaway for the xmas holiday. we were greeted by a friendly staff were in great spirits upon arrival as this was our first time 1#41 in DR and 2#41 at a huge all inclusive resort. in about 5 minutes things went south: - the electricity was completely shot thru the entire property. lots of senior citizens there so as we walked to our room we saw them hiking up the stairs since the elevators were out and they were NOT happy! it stayed this way for a couple hours and apparently it happens every now and then. -we then get to our room and see that we have the worst view: muddy garden the property next door a parking lot! travelers DO NOT BE CONFUSED. THE JUNIOR SUITE IS NOT A BEACH FRONT ROOM. i complained to the hotel who said it was travelocity who mislead me. they were really cool about switching our rooms to the courtyard/fountain view the next day. -unless you wake up and get in line at 7AM to make reservations in person you wont get to take advantage of the nice restaurants in the resort. period. the food we were left with at the buffets was either pretty good or disgusting. i wouldnt trust the seafood or the red meat. stick to chicken and pork which was all good. -the beddings stink. everything smelled as if they left everything in the washer too long before switching to the drier. it was gross. POSITIVES: Hospitality!! everyone was amazing and friendly and always got us what we needed. the massage at the spa was incredible too and better priced than ny standards. 4 days great but wouldnt stay again.

Rui palace was beautiful.Check in was effortless.Staff was very helpfull and friendly. We booked a suite.Room 0046. it's probably the best room in the entire resort. The grounds were very well kept. Our room was very clean and mind bogglingly huge. The beach was great with plenty of shade and awesome views. The pool was just okay, not deep enough, way to warm. The Riu taino pool was better. We had stayed at the Riu Macaw a few years ago.I felt it had better food than the palace. In fact, we had a few lunches there and I must say the food and overall buffet was better. We ate at all 5 palace specialty restraunts. They were all pretty good. The meats are just not up to US standards. Most food had a Dominican flair. Some unidentifiable.Tipping is key! We left * dollars a day for housekeeping. 2 for breakfast,3 for lunch,4 for dinner.Hold up a dollar at the pool bar and even at for deep...magic! After a few days of this, you get great tables, awesome service, smiles and handshakes. So it cost us an extra * or so.It's well worth it. I travel alot and this place was a great bang for the buck.Only true negative....The casino, stay away! I've gambled all over the world. This casino is a joke1

This place was awesome. The food at all restaurants was excellent. The beach is forever and very clean. The only problem is that 95 of the staff cannot speak english. When they say lockup everything valuable they mean it. We had 250 taken from my wifes purse which was in the closet on the top shelf with the door closed. Our fault we did not follow directions.
