We booked our stay at the Basin Park Hotel on the internet. The pictures looked very pleasing. We got there to find our room to be nothing like it looked in the pictures. We were very disappointed. It seemed fairly clean but it was far from our luxurious king jacuzzi suite which we paid a good price for. The shuttle is supposed to take you up to five miles. When we asked to be driven to a grocery store three miles up the road the desk clerk said they usually just stayed in the heart of the town. After an argument the driver took us to the store. We didn't let the disappointment of the hotel ruin our stay, but we definitely wont stay there again.

We stayed there and loved the place. Its obivious the hotel is old, but has so much charm. The staff was wonderful and the room was clean. I guess it depends on what someone is looking for. Loved how we were right downtown and didnt have to drive again after we arrived.

I was so excited to get to stay at the Baisin because I had always wanted to be right in the heart of everything, well that's about the only good thing about it. The room was so small and very uncomfortable there is no shower, the bed was not a big fluffy bed you would want to lay down on it wasn't good to sit on. My husband and myself couldn't even walk around in our room with out running in to each other, not kidding. The only mirror was above the only sink which is right next to the bed and it was very dark. I could go on but let's just say yes it is a wonderfully historic hotel but not very inviting, we will never stay there again. We had also booked a king room which we didn't get. Whan I ask about it they said we book through travelocity and they made a mistake (which I don't believe) and they didn't even offer to upgrade us and didn't even say sorry this happen nothing! I was so disapointed.

Some would say the Basin is filled with history and rustic charm. I would say the Basin's best days are history. There are other lodging options on Spring Street which truely do offer rustic charm.

We got a large, well lit suite with two AC window units (hello, built in 1905. Can't expect totally modern amenities here.) The front desk and shuttle were helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable, triple sheeted with lots of down alternative pillows. The jacuzzi tub was a real treat after a long day of walking, and the food and drinks in the bar and restaurant were delicious and reasonably-priced. And the icing on the cake was a complementary massage in the day spa!
