Ok so reading someone else's bad review about the strip club across the street didn't scare me so much as coming back from a day at the beach to find our hotel room door open. Apparently they were installing modems in the rooms for internet useage but failed to inform us nor did they close our door when they were finished. Thank God for a safe in every room and when we complained all we got was "sorry, that shouldn't have happened". Besides this unsettling day, the beds were not comfortable, there was very little room to maneuver in the room and our blankets were dirty (yes, food was stuck on one of them and very clearly not washed since the last resident's stay). We will definitely spend more for a better hotel next time for both cleanliness and peace of mind. Very disappointed for the price we paid.

If you are planning a trip to san diego for marine corp graduation, this is the place to stay. We stayed at bay inn in 2007 for our sons graduation. we walked to the MCRD base about 6 blocks away so it was really convenient. really liked the hot tub and pool. we felt very safe walking to and from the hotel. the Larry Flynt nightclub across the street wasnt a factor -it was like it wasnt even there. Denny's right next store convenient shopping 2 blocks away and the Waffle House across the street from MCRD. we spent a day at the zoo and beach and both were close by and easy to get to. hotel staff was courteous and friendly and will stay there again when are younger son enlists and graduates. Semper Fi!!!

The room was passable the area questionable the staff well if you could understand what they were saying they may have been nice but unhelpful. I would not stay here again and if you choose to keep a look out they attempted to add extra taxes and fees when you check in.

Stay elsewhere if you need Internet access

The past four days, I stayed at Bay Inn and Suites at SeaWorld in San Diego. They advertise "complimentary wireless internet access." Most of the rooms, in fact, do not have a wireless signal that will allow people to hook into the Internet. I had two laptops and wifi-capable phone with me on this trip. None worked on their signal. Walking around the motel property with one of the devices trying to find a usable signal, I concluded that about 10% of the rooms probably had a usable signal. None of the rooms were available to me.
As I was sitting in the lobby, attempting to stay connected with a low, intermittent signal - even in their "best" location - I heard the front desk clerk repeatedly say to other guests on the phone, "It's working." From the rest of the conversation, the subject was Internet access. Three other guests came to the small lobby with their laptops when I was there. While there was a local bar advertising free wireless access a block or so away, as one of the other guests put it, "I don't feel comfortable carrying my laptop down there in this neighborhood." I agreed. Management made no attempt to improve the situation or compensate me or others. I do not trust what they tell me. I recommend people stay away. San Diego, on the other hand, was beautiful. Safe travels.
