The room smelled awful; we aired it out for hours and it didn't help. We asked for another room, which smelled just as bad. Stayed one night ;planned . Bed was like a brick. We tried to check out but they wouldn't refund our money, but ONLINE TRAVEL WEBSITE took care of it and waived any fees.

Great location if you want access to a beach. The beach was really too cold for us to use, however, during our stay in late July. You can not view the beach from the hotel. Not a high quality inn. The room was clean but small and smelled of disinfectant spray. The continental breakfast was OK but nothing to brag about. It appeared to be a little expensive for what we got. We stayed at 3 hotels at various locations during our week in Northern California and this was our least favorite hotel and the price was not that different from the others we stayed in. The location was good. Close the Monterey and close enough for a round trip to Big Sur. If you just want a place to sleep, this is OK but you won't want to spend a lot of time in the room.

Great location if you want access to a beach. The beach was really too cold for us to use, however, during our stay in late July. You can not view the beach from the hotel. Not a high quality inn. If you are a beach lover, this a great hotel for you. It is across the street from Marina State Beach. You can take a 5 minute walk around the dunes or if that is too much drive your car 10 seconds from the hotel parking lot to the beach parking lot.
The hotel is basic and clean. There are some signs of rust here and there inside and outside the rooms, but typical for a beach front property.
The hotel is however about 10 miles from Monterey. So, if you want to be in the heart of the action, this is not the place. However, it is a quick 10 minute drive to Cannery Row and the hotel is literally right off the PCH. Overall, this is a great value for the price. I would definitely stay here again. -

I booked a room here over Labor Day weekend. We were VERY disappointed and disgusted with the room we were given. Upon walking in to the room, it had a strong smell of mold. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the sheets felt like they were made out of polyester. It was so noisey outside of our room that we had to sleep with the window shut, trapping in the moldy air.
We thought we might be able to salvage our night in our dingy room by ordering a PPV movie to pass the time. Unfortunately, this motel only has basic cable.
The one redeeming quality about this motel is that it is located across the street from Marina State Beach.
I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton, but I was expecting a satisfactory level of amenities and comfort. This motel fails in every department (besides location).
