Cramped but nice

While traveling in eastern Washington with friends from Norway, we made reservations for two suites for two nights the weekend of September 10 & 11, 2010. Our friends stayed in room 210 which turned out to be directly over the hotel laundry, which (believe it or not) runs all night long! Not just the constant thrummm of dryers, but the on-and-off of water and machinery for the washers as well. Our friends got no sleep at all! We went to the front desk in the morning and asked if they could be moved to another room, but the manager on duty said there was nothing she could do. She expressed no sympathy or concern about their difficult night, nor did she make any effort to resolve the problem. She simply said that the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing she could do. We asked if they could move into a room vacated that day and give room 210 to newly arriving guests. The answer was simply “no.” We cancelled our reservations for a second night and moved on. It is now more than two weeks later. We have called the hotel’s general manager many times and he is never available. He does he respond to messages requesting a call back. This is a lovely property in a spectacular location, but we will not stay there again and we will recommend that our friends stay away as well. The people running this property do not know what the words “customer service” mean.

Pleasantly surprised with the facilities. Great views from the rooms of the lake front. Great park across the way for dogs and walking. Barbecues strategically placed for use. EFull kitchenette with plates, utensils, microwave, fridge, etc. Very quiet and very clean outside pool and hot tub. Would stay there again in a heartbeat! Price was right with the military rate Excellent value!!

The front desk spent a considerable amount of time on the phone while we wated to get our room. We were put in a handicaped room which we did not order. The shower had a seat that folded down with lots of hand rails. We overlooked the swimming pool which was quite noisy. It was not easy to get any spot at the pool and we did not attempt to go there. On a positive note the view was quite nice overlooking lake Chelan and there wqs a park directly across the street. Dinner at the wapato winery was excellent. Our overall experience was good but the price for the room was high compared to the value received.
