We stayed for five nights. The place is clean, and has been updated. The included breakfast quality was ok, but not great. The biggest disappointment was the bed comfort. You can feel the springs of the mattress come through the bedding material which made it difficult to sleep.

This is a place we will stay at again and again, primarily due to the staff. Manager spoke with us daily to be sure that things were going well. The shuttle service to Metro, King Street, and the airport could not have been more simple and prompt. Clean rooms, good breakfast, and free snacks! Who could ask for more.

Our first impression was from the Metro stop. We hadn't even checked in yet and they came and picked us up at the Metro. Second impression clean and quiet. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful-found directions, made suggestions, shuttle was very prompt and free. The convenience of getting to the Metro made Washington very easy. Also, it opened up our visiting Alexandria which we probably would not have done but were so very glad we did. Hot breakfast and evening snacks were so welcome. Not a fancy hotel but very clean and met our needs beyond what we expected. Definitely recommend to others and would stay here again if in the area.

Modestly priced vis-a-vis others in area, a little older but excellent value with very attentive staff. Free parking, free shuttle service to nearby Metro station until 9 p.m. saves considerable expense over a few days (free breakfast, too!). Very comfortable bed/room but no clock anywhere. Well-stocked snack room on each floor is great! 10-block walk to Market Square/Old Town Alexandria but easily doable.

We took my 70something parents to DC, and stayed at the Old Colony Inn. We've always enjoyed Best Westerns, but this was spectacular. Breakfast was a hot buffet of bacon, sausage, hash browns, oatmeal, eggs, and waffles, with fruit, cereal, bagels, and juices available. What was totally unexpected was the snack room. Instead of vending machines, the Old Colony Inn has a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, juices, yogurt, ice cream bars, and drawers full of snacks, available whenever you want. On top of all that, the staff was extremely helpful, especially the shuttle driver. Getting to and from the Metro and various Old Town restaurants was a snap. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
