Stayed here for the weekend as it was highly recommended from friends. We had previously stayed at other motels on the island which were a better value and had better room accommodations and came with the same free breakfast deal. The island is tiny so anywhere you stay would be a great location to visit the wildlife refuge, beach, shops, etc. During the two night stay it was difficult to sleep as the room was haunted. Whether you believe in ghosts or not there was something strangely eerie and discomforting in the room during the entire stay. I never have nightmares at home and during those two nights the sleep I did get was plagued by nightmarish visions of blood and murder within the very room in which I slept. My suggestion would be to not stay in the rooms by the staircase and to stay in the others at your own risk. If you enjoy the dark paranormal I would highly suggest this hotel. It is a pleasant hotel until you attempt sleep.

Advertizes a free breakfast. This is true as long as you get there between 7:00-9:00am and then you have to travel a half mile to the "That Mexican Place" Had Good buffet-must pay for beverages and tax. Nice pool. Asked about towels to use at the pool, I was told to go buy some. One small bucket of ice. Need more go buy some. Semi clean bathroom, small TV, thin (room only) towel and very hard beds. Can't use if you want that breakfast half a mile away. There are better deals on the island!!!

Good location on the island, very near entrance to beach. Rooms are not very big and the bathrooms are small. The staff was friendly and everything was kept clean. The outdoor swimming pool was great and the outdoor BBQ and clam cooking area was an added plus.

07/04/2007We loved the outdoor pavilion and steamers. we were able to cook our freshley caught crabs right there! great location, and the staff were more than helpful and friendly.

Value is what comes to mind when describing the Blue Heron. Excellent location, pool, free breakfast at a local restaurant, and a friendly helpful staff made our 3 days pleasant. Bonus: Screened picnic pavillion - nice and new!
