  I stayed for 4 nights the 1st wk in October, 2009. Camp David Ranch Hotel is a great place! I was very pleased with my accomodations. The value for your money is great. Prior to arriving I ensured that I would have a city view from my balcony. I received exactly that and it was awesome. The location is about 20 - 25 min. outside of downtown Santiago, 30 min from the airport. Getting to Camp David for the 1st time if you are driving will be a challenge, even for the unfamiliar cab driver, especially if you are unfortunate enough to arrive at night. They have signs pointing to the hotel that are visible during the day, but at night, it's pretty tricky. The views from the hotel is outstanding from all angles. The restaurant is clean with good service and food. The staff is very helpful and it has 24hr security. The rooms are spacious with daily housekeeping (Bring your own wash cloth, there are none). If you are seeking to party while you are there, I would not recommend staying here., It's too far. BUT...if you want to tour the city during the day and simply relax at night, this is the place! Great for couples, not so for the singles wanting to party. Stay closer to downtown where you can either walk or take a 5 min cab ride. As with life, everything is relative. My review/ratings is based on past experiences in the DR and not to a 5 star Hotel in the US or UK.
