We got there at 10:00 pm on a Tuesday..Hungry and tired from a long motorcycle trip ,passing many restaurants to get there..We explained our situation and NO ONE tried to get us some food, the kitchen was closed..Apparently the kitchen is unapproachable after closing time...Well,the waitress gave us 3 pieces of bread,no butter,oh boy....Ok,went to breakfast at 10:05 and AGAIN the kitchen was closed, hours 7to 10 am and 11 to ?...Strike 2...Ok,I wanted some cash, guess what,ATM was empty for 2 days..Strike 3...The scenery is beautiful there but you need to ride away to enjoy food...Love the area but hate that hotel......

My family and I recently stayed at the Resort for a four day mini vacation. These are the things we liked: The scenery and peacefull setting. These are the things that were disapointing. We stayed in a room that consisted of two twin sized beds that were very uncomfortable, the staff seemed extremely preoccupied with everything other than service. One evening we took the kids to the game room to discover half of the games out of order. When we lost some quarters in one of the games the attendent at the indoor pool was nowhere to be found. For the use of the outdoor pool, tennis court, skate park, and any other outdoor facility there is an additional fee. My wife and I decided that if there was a Best Western or Super 8 we probably would have stayed in more up to date, comfortable rooms and probably would have payed half of what it cost to stay at this Resort; and received the benifit of a continentel breakfast and would have still been able to enjoy the scenery and peacefull setting.

My husband and I stayed here through the travel agency. We received a sweet deal which includied buffet breakfasts for each of us, a real treat foodwise and also because the dining room has a lovely view of the Canaan Valley. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Staff were friendly and courteous. Atmosphere was enjoyable and relaxing. There are frequent deer sightings & it is not uncommon for deer to walk right up to the lodgings. Great photo-ops. There are pricey evening meals served in the dining room. But if all you want is a sub or pizza, that can be had as well in the on premises cafe. While we were there for motorcycle touring of the area, we noted acitivities for children, such as an outdoor movie and something similiar to a hayride through the area. This was not our first stay, but it had been many years since our last stay. We were not disappointed in anything about the resort.

My Husband and I wanted to getaway and ski for a couple of days. We found a rate of about $75/nght on online travel website including breakfast. We were just expecting a continental breakfast but it was a fantastic sit down full hot breakfast. That was a bonus for us as that would have added on another $25 per day. It loaded us up for a great day of skiing.
The rooms are very basic and pretty old - definatetly in need of an update. But for $75 a night with a view of the ski resort we couldnt have asked for anything else. Dont expect lush beds and non fuzzy cable if thats what you like. I would only rate the rooms a 2 star but we had a great experience. It was a great getaway with the convenience of all the hotel services right there - but no Ritz Carlton.
Lots of friendly locals - the deer I mean. They are all around the hotels! The staff were a little older and a little on the slower side but all very friendly.
