I've stayed at this Candlewood Suites for the last two years to visit my son at Santa Clara University, and plan to stay again in the very near future. The hotel is across the street from SCU and convenient to several restaurants, Starbucks, a sandwich shop and a wonderful bagel shop are just across the parking lot, and there are others a short walk away. The hotel is intended to be an "extended stay" property, but I feel they are very clear on their website as to what housekeeping is provided. My room was spacious and the kitchenette allowed me to keep snacks on hand and even cook lunch for us one rainy Saturday. The air conditioner was a bit noisy, but not intolerable. My rooms have been on the parking lot side, away from the train, and I've never even heard it. If you don't need daily housekeeping, this is a great place to stay!

Very limited service - no daily maid service (not noted on website). We used the same towels every day and since there was only one hook, towels had to be hung on chairs. Even though we had made the reservation for four, we made up our own sofa bed which was too uncomfortable to sleep in, the mattress ended up on the floor. The air did not work well and windows did not open more than 4 inches, The hotel backs to the train station (which we did not realize until we had unpacked) and even though the hotel was not full, they put us on the train side. We checked out a day early even though the room was pre-paid. It is probably fine for the individual business traveler as long as they request not to be put on the train side.

I stayed out there for the weekend and i must say it was cleaner and classier than i expected becuase i had never heard of the place before. Overall i was impressed, i think they just recently remodeled or built the place becuase everything seemed new. The hotel is located behind a little plaza that has a starbucks(which is key! ) and eating places too. However because of its locatin its easy to miss, i suggest they put a big sign on the street so patrons will know where to turn. I will definitely recommend this places to others :)

I have stayed at this hotel before and it is usually good but they were remodeling. It was disappointing to see concrete floors in the hall. There should be a better way to re-carpet like one floor at a time. It was both unappealing and possibly unsafe.
Also the selection in the food cupboard was poor. Some things were not re-stocked and perishable items were out of date. -

This is not really a traveller's hotel as such. There is no breakfast. Many students from Santa Clara University live here, and while the occupants were not noisy, the hallways were filled with cooking smells that are objectionable. We would never had stayed here if we had known the full details of this place.
