If your major agenda item is to enjoy the Volcano National Park, Hilo is the most convenient location to stay. The hotel is old and needs to be updated from it's 1970 decor. It is clean and the staff members are friendly and helpful. Close proximity to the aiport and great views from the room's balcony. If you are just planning on sleeping there after your day at the park, the hotel will be a good place to stay.

If your major agenda item is to enjoy the Volcano National Park, Hilo is the most convenient location to stay. The hotel is old and needs to be updated from it's 1970 decor. It is clean and the staff members are friendly and helpful. Close proximity to the aiport and great views from the room's balcony. If you are just planning on sleeping there after your day at the park, the hotel will be a good place to stay.

The Hilo Hawaiian is an older hotel but the location and bayside view can't be beat! Plenty of parking, some even underground. Rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. This was our second stay here. We chose to return because we liked it so much.

We stayed for two nights at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel over Christmas. The room we stayed in was good sized and very adequately equipped. We found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. Considering it is an older hotel we were very pleased. The location is terrific. Our ocean front room provided a spectacular view of both Hilo Bay & and of Mauna Kea. The weekend buffets are very popular and well priced.

The Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel is the best option for the Hilo side! It's dated, but clean. The views are awesome, and the parking plentiful & free. My first impression, given how dates it is, was not great, but we've stayed at a few of the other Hilo-side hotels (my brother lives there) and this one is definitely the best. They have refrigerators in the rooms, rooms are quite spacious, quiet, and the beds are firm but comfortable. We paid a few dollars more for the "bay side" and the view was TOTALLY worth it! You're allowed to get drinks at the bar downstairs and take them up to your balcony, that's the way to enjoy the sunset!
