This is a better than average Comfort Inn based on my previous experiences. My room was enormous except for the bathroom, which was quite cramped. It had a refrigerator and microwave. The bed was firm and very comfortable but the pillows were lousy - small and neither pleasantly firm nor comfortably soft. Breakfast was disappointing, with lower quality generic cereals, an annoying toaster, and unhealthy pastries and donuts. The room was surprisingly quiet.

I am writing this because I know how difficult it is booking hotels and any help is vital. So anyway, I wanted somewhere for good value but decent (i.e. clean, well-run, etc...). Some of the reviews for other hotels around $* were off-putting but these reviews were good, location was where I wanted (just outside DC so can commute in on Metro) and so I gave it a go. I wasn't disappointed. For the money it was great. Very clean (an essential for everyone), nice-size rooms, quiet (not those paper walls that even some up-market hotels have that can ruin a night), and the staff were very helpful (with advice, maps, extra sheets). There is parking out the back as well which was great -- a lot of hotels in DC don't have parking and those that do often have the basement garage which I can use but don't prefer. Here, just a car park out the back -- perfect. The breakfast was also pretty good. usual stuff but quite a lot of choice. My only gripes -- the shower was weak and the door lock was a bit capricious. However, overall a decent place. If you want somewhere clean, convenient at a fair rate, I recommend this.

Room was adequate...we just needed a place to crash after sight seeing in DC. My son's retainer was mistakenly thrown out by the maid (it was wrapped in a paper towel on the night stand). I agree that it was partly our fault..but I also think the hotel has some resonsibilty in it also. I had made the beds & put our soda cans in the trash before we left (former chambermaid). So the room was not messy when she came in. The paper towel had upper & lower retainers so it had some weight to it. It was a mistake on both our parts. I now have to pay $ for new retainers & the hotel gets to wash their hands of it. Choice Hotels only files the complaint..no follow up on their end as the hotels are all franchised. So hopefully you won't have any issues...don't leave anything out!!! My stay was pleasant...just the aftermath of the unfortunate situation is disheartening. I never met the manager...only spoke to him on the phone & got the obligatory "apology" email from him.

but shopped around a bit and found that the comfort inn ballston was only 3 ...I was originally booked into a fancier brand-name hotel for my business stay,
but shopped around a bit and found that the Comfort Inn Ballston was only 3 blocks further away from the subway and only 2/3 the price. The staff were helpful and friendly,
and there was a very nice free breakfast that included waffles you can make yourself.
In addition, the room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel also had free wireless in the room, and this was a big plus for me. If possible you should ask to stay on the side of the hotel opposite the main road (N. Glebe Road).
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel to any of my colleagues.
