On a recent trip to Newport, RI, my wife and I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Middletown. Being a member of the Choice Privileges program and staying at a Comfort Inn in Mystic Conn. about 10-12 times a year we were not quite prepared for what we experienced. Any time the elevator is in use, it can be heard in any room of the hotel. The room for the Continental Breakfast overlooked the roof of the pool. Unfortunately, the management decided to store equipment there which made it quite an eyesore. The eggs were black inside usually a sign of spoilage. At night, the Biker Bar in the rear of the hotel was noisy and loud. Saturday morning, looking for a newspaper, we were told that none were available and that we should walk up the street and get one ourselves. Also, in the room the heating/cooling system did not seem to work at we set the thermostat to 80 degrees and it continued to blow cold air. On an overall rating in comparison to other Comfort Inn Hotels we were very disappointed and upset with our trip and would not stay there again unless something could be done with the noise from the elevator and the windows which did not properly block any noise from the street.

On a recent trip to Newport, RI, my wife and I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Middletown. This hotel is a stone's throw from downtown Newport at a fraction of the cost. It's located right by Easton beaches which are the nicest in the area. Plus you avoid the parking headaches!

We loved the location! right across from the beach and the Atlantic Beach Club has the best food around and service. The hotel is clean...the staff on the day shift is not very customer friendly. the breakfast is good and Leita is such a wonderful person to have in the breakfast area. Very accomadating and friendly. Room 340 is the best, but hard to find available in the summer. Forget about requesting it...no requests so they say? We noted at the front desk that the side door access to the stairs would not close. Felt unsafe with that and also it seems that you could just take the elevator where-ever with no one watching? We stayed there again in September and the door was still not fixed. Having said all that the location is so great....and Flos clam shack is right next door....It doesnt get much better....
