08/23/2010Great hotel with nice lobby accommodations for the business or vacation traveller. breakfast is not "free" but is available and reasonable which is a great time saver.

I was looking for 2 minor things, an outdoor pool and a complimentary breakfast. Travel website specifically states there is "an outdoor pool and an indoor spa tub" (paragraph 2 of hotel description). The pool is fairly small and indoors, next to the indoor spa tub. It was OK but not what I was expecting or wanting. Marriott's site does indicate an indoor pool so this may be a Travel Website error. Breakfast is not complimentary but that was carelessness on my part in not reading the fine print. I decided to settle for coffee in my room but the coffee pot (which only brews ONE cup even though my room bill said 2 people) did not work. I left with no coffee and no breakfast. My upstairs neighbors were quite noisy at about midnight - 1 a.m. but that did stop abruptly - someone probably complained. Sound insulation is not the best though. The lack of comp. breakfast was minor but it did seem like slight of hand by the hotel and it annoyed me. I was not the only one caught by this as the waiter repeatedly asked people if their breakfast was included in their billing (generally not) at which point several people (like me) walked away shaking their heads. The waiter was clearly used to this problem so it must happen regularly. Bed was comfortable but a bit sparse on blankets. I could have stayed at other hotels in the area that had the amenities I wanted for the same price (or slightly lower) but I thought "Marriott... must be good right". Not so much. Kind of far from "Old Town". I had limited interaction with staff - check in and the waiter - and they were pleasant enough. I won't return.

This hotel would have gotten all 5's except for a loose door handle in the bathroom and a broken floor lamp. Loved the pillow top bed -- one of the best night's sleep away from home ever! I intended to book this hotel for my next stay in Fort Collins, but was shocked to see the price had risen to $* a night when I logged in to book. Perhaps this is a seasonal thing, I don't know. With regrets, I booked a cheaper hotel. I will check back, however for future trips. Definitely my favorite Fort Collins area hotel.
