OK, so it's not a tropical paradise, and it's not officially West Texas. But it does have palm trees and the faint smell of crude oil. This place is totally fine for business travel, and is on the upper end of quality of Days Inns. It's no resort destination, but your're not staying at Days Inn if that's what you want anyway. There are plenty of worse choices in Carlsbad.

We stayed 1 night. The room was clean but musty smelling. The breakfast was good. Lots of choices. The pool was clean. The hot tub looked like someone had poured soap in it, there were sooooo many bubbles. When I asked the desk clerk she said it was from the soap in our suits, we hadn't gotten in the hot tub yet. The desk clerk wasn't very friendly but very efficient.

07/25/2010The lobby was clean and the breakfast area was clean and well organized. just did not feel safe with the behavior of the other guests. sleep was not disturbed though.

Chose this hotel based on the ratings and I was disppointed. The room smelled moldy which I suspect was from the bathroom. The toilet was not set and tipped everytime you sat on it. The tiles were cracked on the floor so I suspect water had got in the floor which caused the moldy smell. Tried to open the curtains and they did not work correctly. When I got them open, could not see out because the windows were filty so I had to clean them. I had to go the store that night and buy Lysol to spray and wipes to clean just to feel comfortable. The price was alright and the breakfast had a good variety although not hot but still more than enough choices. Close to Carlsbad.

Yes they do allow dogs however you must stay in a smoking room - Everything I owned smelled like cigarette smoke so if you are a smoker and travelling with your pet you will love this Inn - Otherwise make another choice your luggage and pets will thank you.
