The owner/manager ABC insisted on payment in cash for three nights immediately upon my arrival. I was shown three rooms that were advertised as doubles w/ private bath which were all disgusting; however, I arrived from the US at 5:30 that morning and was too exhausted to look for another place so I took the room that I thought was at least habitable. Between hearing loads of mice running through the walls and ceiling every night and trying to stay warm in the cold room it was impossible to sleep! The heat was controlled centrally by "Jim" and he would not raise the temp, nor was he concerned about the comfort of the guests. He was rude and so obviously greedy it was useless to try and reason with him. The room was so cold I had to fold the bed blanket in half to double the thickness and wear a sweat shirt and sweat pants to try and stay warm. It is a complete misrepresentation to advertise this property as any more than a rooming house as it is certainly not a hotel. The 45 - 47 Amhurst "Hotel" was 60 quid for a double w/ private bath and I realize that is inexpensive for a budget hoteI; although, listening to mice running all through the walls and cold rooms are unacceptable, regardless of the price. I found a little B&B just a few streets away that was 10 quid more per night and it was clean, warm and included breakfast. I've traveled to London at least a dozen times over the last ten years and I have never experienced anything so disgraceful. Avoid this one!

The hotel is located at a deadend of a street. At nighttime the location becomes a common target for theft (the person who stayed two doors away from me had his jeep stolen from the parking lot). To add to that, I reserved a non-smoking room and it still had a smoke smell to it. This hotel is probably one of the worst I've stayed at. I would rather pay more and be safe than to stay here again. If you have allergies, don't even think about staying here.
