Excellent stay the night of Sept 6, 2010. Front desk was friendly & helpful, room accommodations excellent, restaurant food & service very good. Towels large & fluffy. The cookies at check-in were yummy! Room rate is pretty high for Durango, but surely one of the best places to stay in Durango

i may not be like a connoisseur of fine ski lodge, but i should qualify a bum. went without younger children this trip and met up with fairly large marital ceremony. between plenty of fast slopes and zero crowds, (yet plenty of other local fun loving snow fans) and town night life at the derailed saloon, i consider this top destination and far from expectation implied by the name "Purgatory"!!!! miss it much only until next year! Corky

i was very pleased w/ my stay at the double tree in durango. my wife and i are young and many time when staying in nicer establishments, we are given very poor service. i guess the employees don't think they will get a tip, but we are from austin, tx where the richest guy in the room could be wearing flip-flops and no shirt. so don't judge a book buy its cover hotel people. you never know what that wallet holds; but we didn't get any bad service at the doubletree. the room was priced only slightly higher than your low-rent roach motels nearby, and we had a river view w/ a balcony and it was geourgeous. i would recomend it to anyone staying in durango to stay at the doubltree. oh, by the way, i wouldn't go for the city view, i think you might be dissapointed unless you like looking at higways and traffic lights.

We have been coming to this particular hotel for years just because of the wonderful service. The bed is very comfortable and I want those pillows. The Animas River makes such a pretty and pleasant backdrop to our room. The waitstaff in the dining room was very pleasant and accommodating.
