What a surprise! This hotel is located in the CENTER of convenience; the beach, shopping, nightlife (gay & straight), super market across the street, bus line, freeway, airport and city culture (old and new San Juan). Our room was a garden suite. Being able to open the door, sit, and enjoy the quite pool was a plus. The entire staff - valet/front desk/pool/guest services made this HOTEL a 5 STAR. The Business Manner's of the staff is a "10". I cannot remember visiting a RESORT and remembering any of the STAFF'S names? Doubletree Hotel - this is a DIAMOND hotel and you should be proud of the service - great job everyone.

I really didnt know what to think about the hotel...When i got to doubletree i was blown away.. friendly and helpful staff. my room was to die for. I loved all aspect of doubletree, it was simply classy.

Room at the end of the hall (423) was quiet and clean, somewhat on the small side. Frosted glass sliding door into the contemporary bathroom didn't promote a great feeling of privacy. The shower (only) was about the size of a phone booth, too small if you want company. Hotel provided toiletries were replaced daily as was the complementary coffee packets. In house restaurant had a limited, but adequate breakfast menu (didn't eat other meals there). Service was a tad slow on occasion, although the wait staff, like all of the other employees we encountered, was always smiling and eager to assist. A number of other restaurants in the area are within a 10 - 15 minute walk depending upon your speed toward the beach on Ashford. Bebo's is just around the corner and has a large menu at reasonable prices. The market across the street from the hotel is most convenient. Workout room was clean with aerobic - mainly treadmills - and dumbbells. Pool area was well maintained. Pool towels are furnished. Location of the hotel is mid way between the airport and Old San Juan, a 15 - 20 minute drive either direction. Traffic can be very heavy at times. Drivers seem to be indiscriminate when changing lanes or turning, so watch out! We got a great off-season rate (through the end of Sept.) which included breakfasts for 2 each day, quite the bargain. Parking was $ /day, typically the going rate for all hotels checked. There was no charge for using the business center - including printing - thank you very much. Overall, a good experience. And like others have mentioned, the cookies are really good!

I knew that I wanted to visit Puerto Rico but I was unsure of where to stay and on what part of town. I always do extensive research on the hotels i see offered on this site (ie. call the hotel and ask alot of questions). Although all of the reviews that I read for this hotel were good I was pretty leary ...so much that I didn't finalize my plans until late the night before I left. When I got there I was completely floored....the hotel was beautiful and the pictures on the site were exact. The rooms were very up to date....Art Deco style (like Miami hotels) My expereince has been with other trips that the pics don't represent the actual room you are getting for the discounted price. Not only that bu the hotel gave full breakfast vouchers to 2 restaurant at the hotel .....Magnificant My experience was absolutely great I have stayed in many hotels....even other Doubletrees and this one is in my top 3 selections for great hotels. The beach is beautiful ...only steps away and the 24hr.grocery store is across the street if you wanted to save some money and eat in your room (the room has a refrigerator and microwave) and Old San Juan wasn't bad either.....I will stay again and recommend to everybody.

Nice hotel, great value for money. A few very small hiccups with room cleanliness upon arrival but these were rectified. Other travellers may not have even noticed these issues but as I am in the hotel business, I noticed. Great location, close to everything but the best part was the level of service and friendliness of the staff. Looking forward to my next stay!
