In1581 the squire hans johansen lindenow arrived on the sceneand he turned it into a modern manor by the standards ofthat time. There are still remains of both the nunnery andlindenows manor but the present buildings date mainly fromthe 1800 s..Dronninglund appears regularly in the danish history notthe least in the time from 1690 to 1729 when the danish kingowned it. King christian the 5ths queen charlotte amalieresided here and it was she who named the manordronninglund. Among the later owners we find count adamgottlob moltke who built the magnificent castle garden..in the previous century we find among other owners theaalborg ship owner niels k stroeyberg whose wife was thesister of the author agnes henningsen. Her son the famousarchitect poul henningsen often visited Dronninglund andperhaps he got inspired here to make his many famous lamps..today the old nunnery and castle is a well equipped andfunctional hotel and conference centre with all modernfacilities.
