If you need to make use of the shuttle, this place is fantastic. The drivers were friendly and timely. It was like having a personal limo service! They took me to Duke's West Campus every morning and picked me up wherever I was in the evening. They couldn't have been more amenable! The room was quite spacious and clean, but a bit tired and certainly stale-smelling (like someone had smoked there long ago). Even when I unpacked my bag at home that stale smell came wafting out. The walls and floors were thin! I especially could hear any footsteps above my room. The photos did justice to the grounds. The pool was well-cared for and the gardens were nice. Though at this point (2010) there was a significant landscaping project right in front of my room. So, because i really benefitted from the shuttle I'd do it all over again. But I wish the room smelled better!

I was attached to Duke University Hospital for a month. There is 24 hour shuttle service to and fro the hospital! This was extremely convenient for people like me who do not drive. It is very near downtown area. Staff here are really friendly and helpful, and if you stay long enough, they could even become your friend!! The place was really really clean. They use tempur bed, is so comfortable. This is a place where you will get more than what you paid for! Would definitely stay there if I could go back. Highly recommended! The have security patrolling every hour, extremely safe!

From the outside, it doesn't look that great, but inside, it was perfect for a long weekend. It's about three blocks from East Campus, so very convenient. We were very happy with the choice. The rooms were simple, but the kitchen had all the necessary dishes to cook or snack. All of it was clean and functional. If you are looking for a ritzy place, this isn't it, although the pool area was very nice, and the mattresses were Tempurpedic. We will definitely stay there again. Next time, we'll bring groceries and plan to cook more.

I was in town to bring my son back to Duke University early. (Yes, I am proud!) I heard about Duke Tower from some other parents and thought I would give it a try. What a gem! It's in a residential neighborhood and a short drive from the university. My son and I went walking in the area. We walked through the beautiful Trinity Park neighborhood and over to East Campus and the Whole Foods store on Broad Street to buy groceries. The rooms were quite large by hotel standards--a real apartment, with a separate bedroom and kitchen. They had Tempurpedic mattresses which were very comfortable. It seemed like a slow time so we had the place to ourselves. The staff was very friendly and recommended restaurants and movies nearby. They have bicycle rental but we preferred to walk. The rates were very reasonable at about $80/night. I felt like I had found a secret in Durham that no one else knows about. What a nice place.
