The Front desk and all staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. We had a few minor issues but they were dealt with immediately to our satisfaction. The location of this resort is excellent with a nice beach and great for snorkeling but the pool is very small and always filled with children. There were some couples, lots of friends celebrating different occasions, but I think this would be best described as family resort.
We went to Island Nite at the resort and the show and buffet food was excellent, however, when we went to have lunch the service was slow and the food was bad. How can you ruin a bacon/tomato sandwich?
The drink prices for cocktails were the most expensive we saw anywhere on the Cook Islands...twice as much as what we would pay in Vancouver. $20.00 NZ for a Pina Colada ???
The standard prices for cocktails at other places was $12.50 . They did have a Happy Hour from 5:00 - 6:00 when the cocktails were $10.00, but we did not find we spent much time at our hotel bar but frequented others which were more reasonably priced.
We had a beachfront room in Block 400, which had a beautiful view of the ocean, palm trees, etc. We requested a beachfront room in the new section (4000, 5000, 6000) but were told they were all sold out. Our room was kept very clean by our maid, but the resort is looking very tired, and rooms need an overhaul to be more than a 3 star property. The Edgewater had a great activities director who gave us our Orientation to the Cook Islands and he was always available for questions and had very helpful information. Other more modern properties to stay at close by.
