This hotel is very european: Older, very very small rooms, very small old elevator, creaking floors, not many amenities. There is a charge for WiFi. Our reservation had "Breakfast Included" which was a * dollar discount at a nearby restaurant. The front desk is open from 8am - midnight. Parking is * dollars a day across the street and down the street a short distance. The location is pretty good: About 6-7 streets from the Civic Center area. I would consider staying here again, mainly due to fairly good location and the price.

It's a no. The hotel is cute, and the lift is fun, but we asked for the "deluxe" room and couldn't even get around the bed (middle of the room) without hitting our shins on the tv stand. There was one foot between the bed and window, and not much more on the other side. The bathroom was fine, needed updating. It's not a terrible choice, and I know San Fran can be expensive, but I'd try to spend an extra * or * bucks to be in a safer area, and in a hotel that offers a bit more. The parking lot was an outdoor lot in the middle of the block for fifteen additional dollars. No gate, no nothing. Just find somewhere else to stay instead.

Me and my husband stayed here in March 2009. We absolutely loved it! The rooms were small but what you would expect to find in an old historic hotel. The view was amazing and the location was central to everything and extremely convenient. We loved the antique elevator in the lobby. The staff were very personable and helped us with anything we needed. It was a great value (visited in the off season). We felt safe, comfortable and well taken care of. There is also a small pizzeria just down the block from the Edwardian that is TO DIE FOR!!!

A dangerous neighborhood, rickety elevator, and our "Deluxe Kingsize bed" barely fit into the room - there was only one to get out of bed on one side of the bed! And the "view" was of an the back alley. My wife said she felt like were camping.
