After a disappointing stay in Santiago, we were delighted to check into the Hotel Vina del Mar. It's in a superb location, the staff is attentive and efficient, and the room - with a balcony facing the ocean - was a traveler's delight. Clean, contemporary, spacious, it offered everything we wanted - and more. Breakfasts were ample and tasty; we were able to use the business center internet at no charge, and there were a number of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The surrounding area is well-lit and we felt very safe in the late evenings walking back to the hotel. Car parking is free. Go!

Vina Del Mar was a much more beautiful spot than we expected. The ocean views from this hotel are like being on the Mediterraen. The rooms are very large and nicely furnished. The fitness center and pool are high quality. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. The restaurants, especially Savinya, are outstanding service and quality. The hotel arranged excellent local tours for us (at additional fees) and we were very pleased. While this hotel is ocean facing, there is a street in front of it, so it's not "beach-front" property and we did not see a private beach for the hotel (but it might have been available). This hotel was much nicer than we expected.
