My husband and I wanted a nice relaxing night for my birthday. We walked up to the lobby and tried to check in. Even after booking the room with a credit card they refused service " Because we were locals"!!! My family is from the east coast and we were very upset with policy. I called corporate and told them what happened and let us stay.

Almost all hotels in the Permian Basin area are well below average. The Fairfield/Hobbs is just outstanding. I stayed five nights in a King Studio Suite and it was outstanding. 32" LCD TVs in the living area and sleeping area, everything was clean, the bed and pillows smelled good and were comfortable. The staff was even pleasant (hard to find in this area!). My lodging for future trips in this area (and elsewhere) will be a no-brainer. Beats the hell out of Holiday Inn Express, which is subpar in Hobbs. Oh, and Applebee's is right next door. Show your room key for 10% off food (not off of alcohol, though, apparently).
