I really enjoyed my stay in Louisville, Ky! The Galt House is in the perfect uptown location between the Center of the Arts, the Muhammad Ali Museum and the fabulous KFC YUM! center! My room had a fabulous view overlooking the Arts Center square and the Ohio River. Those are the good aspects.... The not-so-good aspects are that being extremely sensitive to smoke, I requested a non-smoking room and it was clearly "supposed" to be a non-smoking room; however, I could smell the reminants of smoke throughout the room where either the rooms below or on either side of me were "smoking" rooms. I was compelled to purchase my own plug-in room freshner to mask the smoke smell throughout my stay. Another thing that was really noticeable was the carpet--it needed a thorough cleaning!!! I was suprised at just how dirty the carpet was and no amount of camouflage in the design could conceal the ground-in dirt...there's no doubt the cigarette smoke was clinging deep inside. If you reserve a room at the Galt House, please make a point to ask about the cleanliness of the carpet--especially in non-smoking rooms! One other thing, there is a charge for parking...I stayed a total of three days and was charged $* per day but had in-and-out priviledges.

We went to a concert at the KFC YUM center and stayed at the hotel, we had a great time at both. The room was clean and the staff was helpful, but not in the overpowering way. When we left the next day, the elevators were horibal. It took over 30 minutes to get on a elevator, and there was only room for one person at a time. The rest of the group waited over 45 minutes to get on. They need to do something about this. I will come back, but the 7 other people that I was will said they will never stay here again because of the elevator.

Excellent stay
02/26/2011Although my stay was short and i did not take advantage of many of the wonderful amenities of the hotel, it was a fabulous hotel, great view, and excellent location.
