If I'm ever in the REGION I will try to arrange to stay at General Morgan. It is a very historic building right off the courthouse square. It is easy to miss, despite being a huge building. The hotel itself is gorgeous. Everything is very well put together. I tend to notice the little details and so looking at things like trim, furniture, paint, wall coverings, surfaces, ceilings, fixtures, there are lots of little details to appreciate, not to mention they are well kept where other hotels (especially major chains) lose sight. I couldn't have been more pleased. There are several historic sites worth seeing in the area. A map is available at the front desk. The downtown is in the process of a revitalization attempt, so some areas look great and others look depressed. NOWHERE did I feel unsafe and I walked around significantly! General Morgan Inn just seems like a glorious like secret hidden a little ways off the interstate in a small, but historic town.
