The hotel itself is modern and overall well maintained, especially in the common areas. Our room the toilet was leaking from the bottom and I called 3 times in order for it to get fixed. Additionally, the electricity went out twice, the keycard holder needed to be reset. Even though the hotel responded promptly, this was not what I wanted on vacation. If you are germ phobic, then take some Clorox wipes with you. The bathroom needed a detail cleaning. The shower grout was moldy. Dining is not 24hrs a day, there are blocks of times food is available. The food for most part is cafeteria style. Good luck in booking restaurants! Every day we tried to book a restaurant we were told they were full. The alcoholic drinks are made with bottom shelf alcohol. The beaches are nice, but in some parts are very pebbly, as the shorelines are gravel. It would be beneficial to purchase some water shoes, which can be purchased from most of the shops on-site for $* - $*. Water shoes are also useful if you go to The Falls, Dolphin Cove, or other water activities. Pool towels are rationed and you need a towel pass in order to get towels. It is a ridiculous system, as towels run out fast and you are not guaranteed a clean towel daily. The room safes are not free and cost $*a day. The Island is beautiful and I suggest that you see the island. We used JTL tours for most part, but also used Reggae Tours who did an excellent job! Reggae Tours are prompt, courteous and go out of their way to please. I have traveled to Jamaica many times and stayed at different hotels, however Gran Bahia will not be on my list.
