I stayed at this all-inclusive property 11/2009 and 6/2010. Both were great. It's attached to Oasis Palm Beach. Pay the extra $10/night and have newer rooms & all access to both resorts AND the 4 other Oasis properties in Cancun. There are plenty of bars and restaurants with table service with NO reservations required. The best one is the Brazilian barbeque style--only for the guests at the Grand Oasis property. The beach is great because it faces northeast and has calm waters--easy to take a walk or play volleyball in the water. The beach is very wide with plenty of palapas, palm trees, lounge chairs and a few hammocks. Be sure to join the beach volley games with the staff at 10:30 a.m. & 3 p.m. The pools are beautiful, the staff is great. Clean rooms with full bath/shower and dual sinks. Huge, beautiful lobby and front lobby bar. Someone is always polishing the marble floors. Professional shows in the "grand salon" or live salsa band on the beach--awesome! Oceanview rooms are spectacular, Lagoon side rooms have a balcony. Ask for a room a few doors down from the elevator or a few floors up because the stairwell has a surprisingly loud echo.

WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN Traveler beware, that when you look this resort up, the details are good but what you actaully get is far from what is listed. We booked a vist May 14 til May 21 2010. The first bad impression at the resort was that we were bothered daily in the lobby by time share people. We ourselves were not there on a time share and were not interested in what they had to say. The rooms were nice but the air conditioning was terrible. Our room was uncomfortable and made it hard to sleep. We did complain twice but they said the air was fine. Then we found out because it was considered prime time, only 1-2 restaurants were open at a time and the beach food closed at 5pm. There was not much to do at the resort. The pools were nice the beach was fair. The water activities that they advertise as part of the all inclusive were not even located at this resort. You had to find your way to the other sister resorts to use the pedal boats or kayaks etc. The water activies were located roughly 15km away. The food was not that good. The buffet restaurant changed very little from day to day. There was very little American food offered. The kids club was nice but hard to locate again at the hotel next door. We had three people in the room but the fridge was only stocked with 2 pepsi's, 2 7-up's and 2 beers, and 2 waters. Very Disappointed family from LeMars, Iowa.

I stayed at this resort in August 2009 with 12 other family members. Keep in mind this is not the Ritz or the Four Season BUT for the $$ you can't beat it. We had no problems with the room, food or employees. The only complaint would be the tiny elevators. The water/beach at this resort is very shallow, only waist deep and very calm. Great for people with small kids. We never had a hard time finding chairs all together. Did not really notice the "towel" game at the beach but it was in full force at the pool. Most of the restaurants are located a few steps away at the sister hotel the Oasis Palm Beach. The OPB has a loud party type pool with music and pool games. This was not our first AI in Cancun. Have we stayed at nicer resorts yes, would we return to the Grand Oasis Caribbean YES!!! Go with an open mind and you will have a great time. Don't forget to bring extra $$$ for tips. Those people work very hard and deserve a little extra money.

We stayed mid April 2010 for 5 nights and our family with 2 boys 10 and 11 enjoyed our vacation in the main building, Grand Oasis Caribbean Resort. It is newer and in the main building. It has better choices than the Oasis Palm Beach in the adjacent buildings in the same resort. The resort shares some facilities, but the people in the main building gets better restaurants. The ones in the main building can eat in their building plus the ones in the adjacent building, but not vice versa. The guests in the adjacent building tend to be in their twenties with lots of drinking, smoking, and loud, definitely for families with young children. They do not respect the non-smonking rule! I recommend paying a little more to stay in the main building if you enjoy non smoking environment and a non rowdy crowd.

We traveled Nov 1-5th, 2009 with our family. My husband and I with our three sons (age 14, 12 and 6) stayed here. We got a great value for our money. The room was clean, air conditioner worked great, fridge in room stocked with bottled water, beer and soda daily, great beach and ocean area and pool for kids to safely play in and snorkel. The food was not great but was okay, the tap water had a funky smell until you let it run for a while, only one elevator works so it is very slow, the gift shop downstairs was very expensive and doesn't take credit cards (the sister hotel next to this one's gift shop does accept credit cards), there is not much near the hotel to walk to, but the Captain Hook dinner cruise is right next door to this hotel. People are friendly but watch out for the soliciters and time share people, don't let them rope you in! (definately sense the competition between hotels around here which is kind of annoying) Overall we had a great time. Would recommend this hotel if you get a good deal, otherwise, we also stayed a few years ago at the Catalonia riviera maya and it was a very great experience for us- however they don't allow more than 4 people per room and we had 5 and wanted only one room.
