We stayed at the Grand Summit Hotel at Sunday River over Christmas. I've stayed in better hostels. Staff is fine but Service gets "Terrible" because complaints to the hotel go unanswered. The place is old and many basic amenities are broken. The thermostat in our room was stuck on so it was a sweltering 80 degrees even when set 50. The Front Desk told us maintenance was booked for the night because "other rooms were too cold" so we were left to deal with overheating children all night in a windowless room. The floors are paper thin which means that you can hear the doors slam from two doors across and one floor up. The plumbing is inadequate at dealing with modern water pressures -- if the upstairs turns on or off the water (we could tell it was the FAUCET) the pipes would clang and boom and rattle our ceilings and walls. Finally, at times of high demand (after lift close) the hotel would actually run out of hot water and you would be stuck with a lukewarm shower. Considering what we were paying and have to deal with all sorts of noises and annoyances I would advise saving your money and finding a nice B&B instead.

The staff all around was fantastic!!! The Front Desk Staff was so helpfull and friendly...Everyone we came in contact with was really helpfull. The rooms were super clean and very nice. Would definately stay agian.

I had to cancel my reservation due to a snow storm. I called the day of my reservation. They charged me anyway, denied having any record of the cancellation, and would not refund my *$*. They were also rude over the phone, kept switching me to different tellers, denying that they had ever spoken to me so that they would not lose their jobs (I can only assume). Terrible experience
