I was initially worried about the stay due to some negative reviews. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was clean. Staff was helpful. The location was fantastic. the pool area was clean and much used during the stay. I would highly recommend and I am, in fact, returning labor day weekend for another stay.

I recently stayed at the Grand Union to visit my son who is a freshman at Skidmore. The location was close to the school and downtown. It was also conveniently very close to the parks. I also took advantage of the on site Spa. An extremely enjoyable experience, the massage was very relaxing. I even received a mineral water bath with my stay since it was off season. The prices for the stay were a good value, the mineral bath was an awesome perk, there was a pool so it will be good for the summer if I come back for the racing season. There was even a continental breakfast with stay which was nice to grab food in the morning on the go. The staff was nice and helpful in providing information about the area.

Not a good experience AT ALL!!!

When I arrived at the motel, they had no record of my reservation in their computer system. The owner of the Grand Union Motel was actuall going to give our room to the people behind us because they were ""paying customers"" even though I had booked the room 3 1/2 months before arriving. If it wasn't for the manager refusing to give the room away, we would have been stuck in a strange place with nowhere to sleep. The manager finally contacted travel website after an hour of trying to get through to a customer service representative, and got them to fax over the info the motel needed. The manager at the Grand Union Motel could've done a better job fixing the problem, and travel website could've done a better job in getting the information to the motel in the first place. Once I finally got the room, it smelled of urine quite substantially and unfortunately they had no other rooms available. The continental breakfast was more like day old donuts than it was fresh pastries like the manager said it was.
