Although the lobby area is very pleasant, this is definitely an older motel that has seen better days. It looks better from the outside than it does inside. I only paid $* for a single room with a balcony overlooking a canal with some freeway noise. I felt it was an excellent value; however, if I had paid more I would have been disappointed! I was able to sleep fine, however. Television reception was good. Bathroom was very, very dated and needed new wallpaper and bathtub refinishing. Breakfast was quite basic: just two types of cereal, mini muffins and pastry; no fruit. Juice and weak coffee were served. The breakfast room was very clean and replenished promptly. There is a small pool but no hot tub. There is an onsite restaurant and there is also Carrow's right across the street, and Denny's up the block a bit. The beach is about 4 blocks away. There is no computer access in the lobby, as most hotels have, but there is free wireless if you brought your own laptop. I used the computer at the library about 5 blocks away.

The one thing I want from a hotel and look for on previous reviews, is wether a hotel is clean. Reviews said, yes, hotel was clean....NO! Hotel was not clean! The lobby/hallway leading into our room, was not clean...walls dirty, carpet needed desperate cleaning, floor dirty. The room was okay. I did have to ask for replacement blankets as both of our blankets had numerous holes, and also a big stain that looked like some recent, questionable substances on it!! I asked for new ones and the new ones were better. Helpful staff though. A couple of blocks from the beach. I would not go back to this hotel, and hope I did not catch anything from staying here!!

Dear Public I am A Mom ,who must share this terrible experience,so you an your family never experience it.The guest house Inn had Bed Bugs,When my kids and i were going to sleep.thank God my teenage daughter got a text.she woke up and saw bed bugs all in the bed...A Warning to all hotel Stayers we checked the bed before going to bed,it was clear,They came out when it got dark and Body heat ,Beware all is not Clear in the daylight..My kids refuse to stay at a Hotel again...So Caution to all who choose ,The Guest House Inn in Oceanside, C.A..

everything seemed dirty in the room. GRIMEY and SMELLY. * room shoulda been like *. no vent in bathroom. crap furniture. ancient tv. and the bed smelled. i'll post again if i come down with some skin rash!!! oh yeah and the ocean view is just beyond the smelly canal that runs to the sea. LOVELY !!!

Our stay was NOT what I expected, yes we had a view of the ocean, but to get there was nearly impossible without driving. The hotel smelled like mold or mildew, and there were cigarette butts and garbage all over the parking lot. It is located is a ""not so good"" part of Oceanside located right next to strip club. Not ideal for a family. The pool looked nice though. Staff was not so friendly, couldnt understand english which made it difficult to ask for more towels. We would not stay here again even if it was free!!!!!
