About a half hour after arriving at this hotel, the front desk called to notify me that my brand new vehicle had been damaged in their lot. I went outside and with the manager immediately determined that a fault in the parking lot had caused it to give way. The manager agreed that the hotel was responsible for the damage and even signed a document to that effect. Today it has been 90 days and despite many calls and letters, I am still waiting for the $1,141 that they owe me and that they promised they would pay me. The manager is always out when I call and he is ignoring my emails.
This week I contacted the franchise company hoping that they will follow up with the hotel. Life happens and I can understand that things will happen, but when someone makes a promise and then decides to not follow through, they are NOT doing the right thing.
These hotels are independently owned, but it will be a very cold day anywhere before I stay in this brand again. My next step will be to get my lawyer involved and then the hotel will be paying not just the invoice from the dealership for the repairs, but my legal costs as well.
It is just such a shame that they are unwilling to do what they agreed to do when the incident took place. Shame on them!
