I travel often for business and leisure and was disappointed with this Holiday Inn Express. My mother, husband and 6 year old daughter traveled to attend a wedding in the area and stayed for 5 days. Here was our general experience: - SWIMMING POOL: The swimming pool is NOT heated, even though we were reasurred during the reservation check-in process that it was. Pool was dirty and the exterior entrance made me wonder if that could be a safety issue since anyone could have entered the pool without being a guest. - BATHROOM: The bottom of the tub and the tile was discolored, as if it was not cleaned regularly. The light is very dim in the bathroom, so much so that it was difficult to get ready in the mornings. - BREAKFAST: All 4 mornings we went to breakfast, the OJ was always too tart or too watery, eggs tasted powdery, food/other items were not replinished to keep up with the number of guests, and 2 of the 4 mornings, the 'famous' cinnamon rolls were put out still cold (not heated up enought).

The hotel was the qualitiy that you would expect from Holiday Inn Express, they tend to be very dependable. Rooms and breakfast are on par with other hotels in the chain and price is decent for a large city. Staff was terrible, lost our reservation twice. They were pleasant on the phone and came across as helpful, but in person and by email they were quite difficult to deal with and very snide and condesending when checking in. I believe they realized that they had given our room away and needed to blame it on us. If you reserve online (never had any problems with HIE by doing that you shouldn't have a problem, but in person they get flustered when busy, and make many mistakes. I have NEVER complained in a review,or anytime for that matter, about a hotel, but the service was so poor, I felt that I was obligated.

The front lobby made be closterphobic. We where right next to the fitness center. At night you could hear all the guest at the lobby. There was no vent fan in the Bathroom. The Hair Dryer kept shorting out. When we got there the Refrigerator was turned off needed maintance man to turn it on. The bed was way to soft sunk in like a lay out tube in the pool. Sinking in the middle with bothside floating up high. The sheets had a weird smell to them.

The building used to be another hotel back in the day. They have done a good job at refurbishing it and turning it into a Holiday Inn property. I did notice however the heating/cooling unit was of an older type and not fitted that well into the wall. The strong cold breeze was felt due to this. =S The check in staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was comfortable and the bed very nice. The rooms are set up like traditional hotel rooms with adjoining bathroom. Nothing fancy like flat screens. Wireless internet was able to connect to my PC, only my Mac computer. Even then it was a little slow. The morning breakfast was quite good. The option to take food on the go is very helpful and convenient to business people. The location is alright. It is within driving distance to the Aurora Shopping Mall and other stores and restaurants.
