The hotel is very clean, the people are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast is wonderful and bountiful with eggs, muffins, fresh fruit and juices. The air conditioning works well and the pool and hottub are great with sun all day. It is not a giant hotel so safety and rapid access are there. 4 floors.. They even have a shuttle that is free to downtown, though I walked the approximately 5 blocks to the convention center and riverwalk. The neighborhood is not in the High Rent locations of the major hotel district, but Ruth Chriss Steakhouse, Denny's and all the riverwalk restaurants are very close as well as Maciy's and the major mall. This is a very clean and friendly hotel that is very underrated . It has FREE internet in the room and lobby and for a family or person on a budget this is the best bargain in town. I found nothing to complain about and many things to praise about this hote. I am a physician and have stayed in many high end hotels, but was a late sign-up for a convention there and cannot praise the hotel enough.

Our stay was for two nights, April 26-April 28, 2009. My daughter, son-in-law and their child of 18 months stayed in a suite and I had a separate room. We chose the Holiday Rivercenter based on its great reviews and were made fully aware that it was not on the River Walk but conveniently located. We made good use of the shuttle and had no problems whatsover. The staff was wonderful. We also appreciated the free parking! We became acquainted with many of the other guests during our brief stay and they also were satisfied. I did see a review referring to the area as ""the 'hood"" but, although there was a boarded up house, it looks more like the area is being prepared for development. At any rate, we felt perfectly safe and were out enjoying the beautiful city of San Antonio and its attractions as opposed to fretting about the neighborhood. It was very quiet and actually had an interesting history per our shuttle driver! Hopefully we will be able to return soon and we shall certainly be staying at the Holiday Express Suites Rivercenter.

Paid $* for one night and was surprised when i saw the hotel. They make it seem like it is on the riverwalk and its not! The pictures are not even to this rivercenter hotel. This is a 4 story hotel with a small pool. They do have shuttle and was told they shuttle and pick you up every 30 mins. Well i waited 20 min to get dropped off at the riverwalk and waited 45 min to get picked up and taken back to hotel. The location of the hotel is the HOOD! There are homes nearby with broken windows, beat up cars -just a bad part of town! The room was nice but way overpriced for its location. Would not stay here again............... i would have paid the additional $* to be on the riverwalk if i knew where this hotel was located and the inconvenience of waiting for the shuttle!

Staff (desk, housekeeping, shuttle drivers & management)-attentive to the guest's needs. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, clean and spacious rooms, business center and convenient location. About a 15 minute walk to the Riverwalk area and Alamo, but why walk when the courteous shuttle crew would take and pick you up from your destination. Great value and will stay again on my next visit to San Antonio.
