The first red flag was when the front desk crew seemed like something out of "The Three Stooges." Second red flag was the sign indicating that the pool is "under construction." I had not been informed about this when making reservations or confirming. I should have trusted my instincts and went elsewhere. Third red flag was when the refridgerator knob broke off in my husband's hand when he was adjusting the temperature. Room was nice enough and clean enough, but turned out the room fridge did not work at all, and I discovered this the next morning when found the kids' milk spoiled. TV remote functioned sporadically and their cable did not have the typical kids' channels we prefer. Breakfast was only mediocre compared to other Holiday Inn Express locations. Breakfast items were not restocked promptly and it seemed like there was not enough food choices to meet the demands of a hotel booked to capacity. I have always LOVED Holiday Inn Express in the past and have always tried to stay at one during trips. However, this particular location was sub-par at best, and I won't stay there again. I don't recommed it. There are many other hotel choices in the immediate area. I should have complained to management, but by the time breakfast was over I just wanted to leave.

On our Thanksgiving travel from Florida to Tennessee we stopped over at the Fultondale, AL Holiday Inn to spend the night. The location of the hotel was great; it is just off the highway in a seemingly good area of town. Checking was quick and easy and the staff was very friendly. They put us in room 105. We get our stuff into the room, unpack a few things and eventually start to settle in for the night. Then it begins. We begin to hear room 205 occupants walking around above us. We could hear every step. EVERY STEP. As far as we could tell they were not running, jumping, stopping or dancing in their room. They were just walking at a normal pace in their room. It was like Chinese water torture. So I called the front desk to tell them our situation and inquire if they could investigate. The front desk person said they hear people above the dining room area as well. She said she would call the room 205 and give me a call back. Well, 20 minutes or so pass with constant noise from above and my room phone remains silent. The front desk never called me back. So I call back and ask for a status update. The response is, "Oh, are they still being noisy?" I say yes and ask for a new room. They find us a room on the 3rd floor. My wife is not a happy camper, having to get out of bed and relocate, but we move on. The new room is quiet and what we had hoped for in the first place. The rest of the stay goes off without a hitch. Other than the "paper floor" black eye our stay was very good.
