I first stayed here last year when they'd just opened, was very pleased. Stayed again recently and was just as pleased. Clean, comfortable. Sophisticated, but not decadent. Unlike the chain hotels, the wi-fi is free -- a huge bonus. Great beds. Located just north of Chelsea, it's in a low-key neighborhood but very convenient and within a block of multiple subway lines. Also nearby a Whole Foods + Trader Joes, which are great options for healthy, affordable food/supplies during stay. Had a problem one night with overly-noisy neighbors and the staff addressed it promptly. Nice rooftop bar, too.

Being a flight attendant for a major airline for over 30 years, I have stayed at countless hotels worldwide. Hotel Indigo is now one my favorites! We loved the location & access to the Chelsea neighborhood restaurants & shops. It was even a walkable distance to the Broadway theatre district. The lobby & restaurant were modern & intimate. The front desk staff was extremely friendly & helpful. Our room was even better than expected with every amenity necessary.....a very comfortable king bed with lots of pillows, iPod docking station on nightstand, flat screen t.v., safe, mini refrigerator, coffee maker(loved the single cup drip!), the free wi-fi, and the bathroom which was modern with all the necessities including a robe. We were unsure about the bare wood floors, as we had never been in a hotel that wasn't carpeted. We decided that it was a good idea & actually liked the clean feeling of the hardwood better! We never heard any noise in our room, either from the street or other rooms. On one occasion during Fri. eve. rush hour, we had difficulty getting a cab.The doorman went out of his way, offering to walk us to 7th Ave. & hail one for us. We will always remember this stay as we celebrated our 27 yr. anniv. and are already looking forward to returning again soon.

Indigo is in a wonderful location. You are one block from the 1 line which is a 24-hour artery that connects you to all of Manhattan and 1 block from the R line which is also helpful. The rooms are a bit smaller and short on storage (if you have two people and one of those people is a woman who brought clothing options for a week). But, they are very nice, relaxing and the wood floors seem a lot more sanitary than the "Oh my god, what has happened on the carpet!" The roof bar was closed for repairs when we were there but the view is nice but not inspiring. However a word of warning about this hotel in particular and the area in general: beware of food and drink prices. The breakfast buffet (not much different than a Courtyard Mariott buffet) is $22 per. Drinks are around $10 per. You can find some discounts. I would highly recommend Brooklyn Bros. Bagels (wifi) or Murray's Bagels (no wifi) for cheap close breakfast and bagels. But this is a perfect hotel for those who either know the area and are comfortable digging around for attractions and bargains, or for someone doing the straight tourist trip and don't plan to stray much out of Manhattan. You are still spitting distance from Times Square and this is SO much better than a Times Square hotel. All and all I would recommend it. And if you have a bunch of plug-in chargers, pack a power strip.
