Hotel was great. All of downtown was within walking distance and even closer to the Max line for trips to zoo, Japanese garden and airport. Great staff, nightly beer and wine reception, clean spacious rooms and daily newspapers. Real close to ethnic food vendors a huge plus! Another great Kimpton experience.

Whenever the rates are at all reasonable, this is our favorite place to stay in Portland. Great huuuge room and wonderful staff; a class place. We always marvel that, at a supposedly comparable hotel, the dorman is too busy to open the door while here, he's always there. A little thing, but indicative of THIS hotel.

Hotel was GREAT! Front desk, concierge, bellmen, parking attendants were all very friendly and helpful. I booked 3 rooms through web and we all had different size rooms. I upgraded to a king suite for $* more which was well worth it. One room was small but clean and pleasant. Other was average size. This hotel has the best location - you can easily walk to excellent restaurants, waterfront, Powell's and other downtown locations. They served complimentary coffee in the morning, wine every night and even delivered a paper of your choice to your room daily. Free bikes and helmets were available for use. Guests are a mix of ages. Rooms and lobby are stylish and cheerful. We were 3 older couples and all had nothing but great comments about the Monaco. I highly recommend it.

This is a lovely hotel. Immediately we were impressed. Our room was so comforting we found ourselves spending some evenings snuggled in bed watching movies on our laptop. The staff was very friendly. The only tiny hiccup was the location--although it is great for catching mass transportation and walking distance to many sights, we felt a wee bit nervous late at night walking around when we were coming back from a late dinner &/or drinks. Not many Portland residents live in the area so the foot traffic is minimal at that time. Ultimately, we would recommend this hotel to everyone! We definitely will toot its horn to family, friends, & dogs (dog-friendly!) planning a Portland visit and we will stay again when we go back.

This hotel is great! The rooms are very clean with a fun decor. Hotel Monaco is very close to restaurants and shopping. The hotel is pet friendly and they had a doggie wine social in the lobby one evening. You can even request a complimentary companion gold fish to be placed in your room! I would recommend this hotel to both families and business travelers. My only complaint would be that my room overlooked an alley and there was some noise from the deliveries being made to the neighboring Macy's store.
