Overall the staff were excellent, food was good, rooms were beat up but clean, and pool was newer. My biggest complaint is that the Tesoro opens itself for day passes to Mexican families. That alone is fine, but due to the multitude of children that the day passes bring in, count on lots of children in the pool area and restaurant.. If you also are traveling with small children, this may be the place for you. We won't return!

I stayed 3 nights with my family. Positive: Great location, right on the beach, walking distances to all local shops and resturants. Beautiful beach. Clean rooms, attentve waiters on the beach and at the resturants. I love Ixtapa, just not Tesoro Resourt. Negative: Food was TERRIBLE!! The breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner were so bad. The alcohol drinks were ok, nonalcohol drinks were gross and they acted like I was crazy for wanting bottled water. There is also no air conditioner in the main lobby area and resturant. This was not so bad for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was HOT! We were there in July. Also the day I checked in the front desk reciptionist took my travel website recipt of payment. I assumed all was good. Then on checkout she tried to make us pay $* US dollars for one of our rooms that they said were unpayed. Very much a lie! I had to get firm and make a scene for them to finally contact travel website after 20 min of arguing for this to be straightened out. I will return to Ixtapa, but not Tesoro

I just spent a week there with my family and we had the best time of our lives. The lobby is completely open on one end so it is very airy, bright and clean. The rooms are clean and spacious with a beautiful view no matter where you looked. The pool is beautiful and very clean. I will say there are not enough lounge chairs, which was a problem. That is my only complaint. They had a large variety of food and everybody should be able to find something they like. The desserts were yummy!! They have dance shows every night, which for amateur dancers were pretty darn good. Those kids work hard to put on a good show after doing activities all day at the pool. The staff was always smiling and seemed happy to see us. If we had a problem, they were quick to help. EVERY TIME! The beach is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Shopping is close, bus service to Zihau is cheap and easy. We can not wait to go back. Is this a 5 star hotel? No, but I don't know if we could have had more fun or been treated better!

I just came back from being there with my 3 sisters and mother. Although the rooms were a little outdated, everything was very clean! Our villa was beautiful! The front desk staff was so friendly and helpd us with every request and with a smile too! The food was pretty good and a very wide variety and the servers and bartenders were so nice too. The activities people and entertainers for the shows were so much fun. There was alot of shopping down the street and you could easily hop on the bus to go to Zihutanejo. We had so much fun!. My family has traveled alot and all over and we would come back here. Now of course its not total luxury, but it was very clean, gorgeous view of the ocean and the pool was very beautiful. And we commend all the staff for a great job. Now the only downfall was it was hard to find a lounge chair because people get out there early and put their towels on them but we survived just fine. It's all about having a fun positve attitude!

Front desk service was bad. Forget about a wake up call. Rooms were out dated. Food was poor, drinks are served is plastic cups. Can not drink in pool and never enough chairs because it is half condo/time share. The guards stalk you looking for your hotel braclet, felt like I was at a prision camp. Spend the extra money and stay at a better hotel.
