Room was comfortable although typically small in the French manner. Early check in was no problem. Very conveniently located-across from a Metro stop, lots of food nearby, walkable to the Musee d'Orsay if you like to walk or are just off the plane and want to stretch your legs. Overlooks a busy street, but the windows were amazingly well soundproofed. Soap provided is in liquid form (shampoo/body wash) so if you prefer bar soap bring your own (also conditioner if your hair is delicate). Wi Fi worked well. We spent very little time in the room, but it was perfect for our needs.

The staff were very friendly and responsive to our needs before and during our stay. Our room was small as expected - a twin double, but always clean and had plenty of storage space to put our things out of sight. We had a bathtub. We visited another room - a double - that only had a shower, there is some variation among the rooms. The location was wonderful for easy access, either walking, Metro or train, to anyplace we wanted to go. There are plenty of good cafes nearby for coffee and meals, and the nearby Monoprix (like a Super Target) is a great place to pick up anything you need, including fruit and snacks. We were not asked to leave our key at the desk, and never had any security concerns. I was very happy with my experience at the Hotel Waldorf Montparnasse.

Staying at this hotel caused inconveniences for our 5 night stay. They only give you one key and prefer that you leave it at the front desk when you leave to go out. We left the key at the front desk twice, and both times we were given back a key for a DIFFERENT room. There were no security measures and who knows how many other guests were mistakenly given OUR key while we were out. When we addressed this issue to the conccierge, he laughed. Also, the hotel room smelled terribly of cigarette smoke, even though no smoking signs were posted throughout the building, hallways, and in our room - strange though that our room had an ash tray. We booked a "comfort double with a city view" which turned out to be an ordinary room with a view of a 1970's shopping mall. Furthermore, the maid entered and cleaned our room twice when we had the "do not clean" sign hanging on the door knob. The hotel does not have a bathtub or radio as stated in their ammenities list. Even though the hotel is not located near any typcial Parisian tourist spots, the hotel is very close to a main metro station from which you can access any part of the city within minutes. Its also in a convenient area for dinner, and a historic cemetary where you can see the graves of famous french philosophers and writers.
