I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill several times and they never have disappointed me. It is a somewhat expensive place to stay, but the rooms are comfortable, quiet, and well equipped. It is close to the US Capitol, which is very useful for my business. It is also close to Union Station in case you need to get on the Metrorail. Conference accommodations are very good too. Check in and check out are easy, and they offer a place to print boarding passes. I don't think anyone will be disappointed staying here.

My teenage son and I spent six nights at the hotel recently. I have stayed at four and five star hotels many times, and am quite satisfied that this was a four star experience. The location cannot be beat for taking in the sights with a five minute walk to Union Station and the various city trolley/bus tours. The breakfast buffet was ample and changed a bit over the week we were there, the room service was good (not gourmet, but hey, when your kid just wants pizza, who cares?). The Article One menu seems a bit limited and posh, but when my son asked for a burger (which was not on the menu), he got a very good one. When I asked for my tuna steak to be cooked in a quirky way--again no problem, just a quick instruction by the waiter to the kitchen and it arrived perfectly done. Ask if you don't see it, and you just might get it. The real quality in the hotel was found in the staff---our every encounter with staff was friendly and personable. The housekeeping staff in the hallways always greeted us, the wait help in the restaurant was uniformly solicitous, professional, and friendly. Concierge and front desk staff were attentive, even when obviously very busy. I can honestly say that in this hotel we got what we paid for, the room charge wasn't cheap, but for my son's first trip to DC, it was great. The only point of improvement would be the installation of room safes. The safe deposit box worked fine for cash, but I had to bring additional hardware to secure my netbook.
