Arrived at what appearred to be a older 5 star hotel. The room had older fine furniture and had been maintained but did not even resemble the internet pictures. I found out later that the pictures were of the renovations to be completed during the year starting at the closing in April. The mini bar had 4 soft drinks and 2 bottled waters. No arrival basket of chocolates, etc. That being said, the real problems started the next morning when I attempted to take a shower with no hot water or water pressure. Two suggestions were given by the day manager (still waiting for the hotel manager to telephone me) The suggestions included using another room for showering purposes and sleeping in original room during my 2 night stay or moving to a smoking room. Neither option was okay because of the rate I was paying, I suggested moving to another hotel. Another room was found but to finish off a extremely bad experience, the room had sheets on the bed that had obviously been slept on numerous nights. Neither room had the mini bar usage price list and I was told that the rooms do not have the usual quantity or qualityof items in the room as minibar and room items were not being maintained because of the hotel's closing for the year renovations. The day manger acknowledged the issues and arranged transport back to the airport. Living in Kuwait and travelling to Bahrain for a long weekend, I could have gone to Europe for the price of this weekend. Do not stay here at all or wait until next year.

Very nice hotel, in a central location, just 1 minute walking distance from the souq. Arabic luxury, staff friendly, superb food in all the restaurants of the property (french, lebanese, international). Live music in the evenings at the beautiful lobby lounge as well as at clipper bar. Rooms spacious, but some renovation is needed in the bathrooms. In general, is a very nice hotel into a really beautiful country. Good value for money. I would return there soon.
