when you read my review below... I do not want you to get the wrong idea...The Jewel Dunn is a nice resort....There are only 2 choices on would or wouldnt stay there again..my real answer is maybe...If you were to stay there only 3-4 days with nice weather...It would get very high ratings from me...except for the 2 hour bus ride from the airport......there are things they do there extremely well !!!! However for a longer stay...I would not reccommend it because the repetition will tend to wear you out... The local area around this resort is not condusive to exploring on your own...off site activities tend to be expensive compared to other places in the Carribbean so you will spend most all your time on the resort property...

My wife and I stayed here for 8 days from Dec 27 2010 through Jan 4 2011... The resort is compact and well laid out...not a lot of walking...we had a 6th floor sapphire room with nice sized balcony and a wonderfull view of the ocean..the room was well appointed and in very good condition.....the overall cleanliness of the resort was very good and the housekeeping effecient and was very quick to keep the room clean and stocked....no alcohol in the mini bar..we have had this at other resorts that charge less..no room service..4800 trip... There are what I would call 4 actual restaurants...the other 2 are the beach snack bar and the outdoor pizza oven...the food quality was outstanding and well prepared...however the menus did not have a lot of choices and varied little from day to day...the New Years Eve outdoor buffet was out of this world...pools are beautiful...but hardly anyone was ever in the water...no heated pools and they were cold !!! however 2 good sized hot tubs at 103 degrees...but it is bad to go to jamacia and not be able to use the pools...bar quality was good ..servers to bring you drinks at the pool or beach were rarely seen... Beach was fairly small and still sufferers from hurricane erosion...was kept very clean... the weather did not live up to the forecast...we booked based on 80 degrees and partly cloudy....which seems to be the advertised Jamaica forecast everyday...people at theresort told me it rains a lot in January....we had mostly cloudy weather mixed with rain the entire 8 days...i know that the resort can not control that.... personnell ho-hum for the most part with a few exceptions.. we have been to Palace Resorts and think they give a lot more for the money THANX ABC

I just got back from a fantastic stay at The Jewel! The staff was attentive and made our stay amazing! There are 6 restaurants - all with great food! I've stayed at all inclusive properties before where the food isn't very good - at The Jewel, it was 1st class! I can't wait to go back and stay longer - there was so much to do and explore and the service couldn't be beat!
