My husband and I stayed here for our annual Christmas tradition - getting away from family and treating ourselves. Call it selfish, we call it doing something good for ourselves because heck, we deserve it. Anyways, this hotel was absolutely gorgeous. The room was great, elevators, the pools (indoor and outdoors), and especially the people that work here! The men and women that work at this hotel were all very pleasant, friendly, and not too bad on the eyes if you know what I mean. ;) I didn't eat at the restaurants here because I wanted to try real Mexican, local food. And believe me, you should too. Don't confine yourself to the hotel. Get out and enjoy downtown Cancun. There are some excellent restaurants. I have no complaints... but if you want to stay somewhere with LOTS of people, tourists, and a happening nightlife, stay somewhere near the Riu hotel. It is VERY busy down that area. But if you like a little quieter, JW is the place to go.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Spring break craziness was not evident here. Only when driving toward downtown Cancun did the pedestrian traffic at night add to the jams. The personnel were gracious & attentive, the room and grounds immaculate. Big bathroom, lovely balcony. Gift shop & restaurant prices high, but that's the nature of this kind of Americanized resort. Lots of families & well behaved kids. The infinity pool obviously not designed for jumping or diving. Adults can lap swim at the spa. The beach was gorgeous & breezy, the surf swells big & rolling. Boogie boarding not that easy depending on the day, but worth trying. We bought inexpensive boards at Chedraui the department/ grocery store downtown. Three or four good restaurants within walking distance. Used mini frig to store leftovers. Free hotel parking a bonus. Went to a baseball game in town, the "Tigres", parked in 24 hr. Walmart lot. Tons of fun!
