Gorgeous, very tastefully decorated hotel with an outdoor garden in the heart of downtown L.A. Extremely helpful, pleasant, professional employees (other than one woman at the front desk) who clearly took customer service as a goal. Great restaurant - try the veggie scramble (it has feta...) with turkey sausage for breakfast! This is the absolute cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in - every day I was there, I saw hotel employees cleaning everything from elevators to chairs! I mentioned to the front desk that I was going to the Museum of Contemporary Art - and they had their shuttle for me in moments. There is a Starbucks just steps away, and I felt very comfortable walking around the area near the hotel by myself as I did a little sightseeing one afternoon. If you are here while 33 Variations is still playing at Ahmanson, do yourself a favor and see that too! Would definitely stay at Kyoto again!!

We stay here semi-regularly and it is a very nice hotel- clean and comfortable with a beautiful Japanese garden, lobby, grounds, etc. Rates here normally aren't cheap though, so you do pay for those extras. Parking is very expensive, we always do valet, which is $* a night. Because of it's proximity to downtown we opt to pay extra for the convenience. We have had a lot of good experiences, such as one time our room service breakfast did not show up and they gave it to us free of charge. Everyone who we have dealt with at the hotel has always been really nice. Most of my complaints were during my last visit. For one, we pulled up and a homeless man was bothering us (two females) and the valet men did nothing. I also found it very strange that at a hotel like this they did not have hair conditioner, even by request to the front desk. I also wish that they offered free wifi. So overall- clean, comfortable, good service, extremely convenient to downtown. Downsides- expensive parking, lack of free Internet, not a lot of places to eat nearby except for expensive room service.

Our experience at this hotel was delightful. The decor was lovely, the room was spacious and clean, and the staff was very pleasant. The large roof garden on the main buliding was very attractively done, and it was great to have a pretty outdoor area that was so physically removed from the street ambiance. This hotel is right in Little Tokyo, and the area looks a little seedy on first glance, but hosts a great variety of excellent sushi dives and hole-in-the-wall restaurants and shops if you feel a little adventurous. Of course there was no need to leave the hotel. The multiple restaurants and good room service menu were perfect for a romantic getaway. In particular, the Thousand Cranes restaurant on premises was truly first rate, with just exceptional food quality, presentation, and service. It is clearly set up to please the most discerning visiting Japanese businessmen, who know quality Japanese food, yet the prices were not astronomical. All in all a fabulous vacation for a better-than-fair price.

I didn't enjoy my stay at the Kyoto Grand. For one I had previusly stayed at this hotel but since they changed their name in December I wasen't aware that I was booking the same hotel. Second of all, parking is $24 a night and our phone didn't work so we couldn't even order room service.

Most Disappointing LA Hotel Ever

We got there early 11am, The Rep at front desk didn't know how to look up our reservation and said she couldn't find my name in the system. She made me go to the business center to print out my reservation. Then she found it after 30 mins, There were no other front desk employees so there was a long line of angry grumpy customers waiting to check out. She Promised to have a room by 12pm, didn't happen, waited another two hours, gave us a basic room when we paid extra on our reservation for an upgrd room. Called front desk for a room changed and were told to wait another 2 hours for the correct room. Finally got our room at 4pm..We wasted a whole day because employees were not properly trained and there were no apology for all the lost time caused. The hallway towards the elevators to our room stinks, smelled like someone didn't flush after a #2 whenever we exit the elevators. Parking was horrible, it was really limited and it was additional $24 daily, The room did not come with free internet access even though it was an upgraded room. There are no pools in this hotel, fitness center did not include a bathroom to freshen up after your work out. The maid never clean our room when we displayed the housekeeping sign on the door. This hotel does not deserve to have any stars. I must say it was the worst hotel I ever stayed at in LA. We visit LA at least 5 times a year. This is our 1st and last stay at this Hotel. Dont waste your money. Seriously.
